ACCC Mission : Using best practices from the co-curricular world in classroom instruction and vice versa. Identifying ways that the two learning environments can complement each other and address the gaps in each system.

Recommendations: Improve coordination and funding of co-curricular activities in order to assure that all students in Oregon have the opportunity to participate in co-curricular activities.

Agenda for the meeting of Tuesday, February 27, 2007 3:00 - 4:00

Meeting Objective

Transition plan for NOISE to become largely independent of OMSI, ETIC, OPAS, or OUS support.
  Knowns and Givens:
  • OUS has agreed to host the listservs for NOISE (So far this has taken about 3 hours but should taper off to very little soon.)
    • NOISE_members
    • NOISE_communications
    • NOISE_connectformal
    • NOISE_funding
    • NOISE_leadership.
  • Jo committed to the NOISE Communications committee to set up the listservs, and host the first phone meeting for this committee with a local metro dial-in number.  Does OMSI have a better phonebridge resource that I should use instead?
  • OMSI has agreed to host and monitor the noise@omsi.edu informational email address.
  • OMSI has agreed to host a website for NOISE, but I have not so far gotten any additional details or found the website.
  • The OPAS Motivate committee feels strongly that they have a stake in NOISE’s success
  • The OPAS Alignment and Coordination Committee (ACCC) is in the process of sunsetting – exactly when Jo does not know.

What it means for NOISE to be successful (as brainstormed by Ben, Eileen and Jo):
  • Finding a home – what does this mean?  Host computers? Bank account? PO Box? Institution?
  • Get website up – measure activity.  OMSI has agreed to host at least one website.  May need multiples – internal business, public communications – students vs. teachers vs. parents vs. providers.  UO may host internal NOISE communications websites.
  • Get listservs up.  Is it possible and/or worthwhile to measure/monitor activity? Jo put noise@omsi.edu on all listservs, so could do it there.
  • First meetings of the 4 committees
    • Leadership
    • Communications
    • Connecting with Formal Education
    • Funding
  • Second annual conference
  • Paying members (self sustaining)
Anything to add to knowns and givens?
